Life at VWFS

How we operate

We're passionate about putting people at the heart of everything we do. We're informal, collaborative and diverse. We operate a culture of flexibility, to empower our colleagues to work in a way that works for them.

We want everyone to reach their full potential and have a suite of resources to help you develop your career.

Hybrid working

Hybrid working is a landmark change for us, and one that we are very proud of. We listened to colleagues, trialled hybrid options and have permanently switched to a completely hybrid working model, giving colleagues the ability to find a way of working that works for them. As part of this, colleagues spend 60% of their contracted hours on-site, balancing flexibility with the benefits of in-person collaboration.

Drive your development

We want everyone to reach their full potential at VWFS and provide a catalogue of core resources and courses to support you, as well as bespoke development programmes. It’s about finding the right development pathway for you, your aspirations and our future business success. We are a digital-led business and have many digital learning tools available to support your learning.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

We're on a journey to create a culture that celebrates our differences, where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging, and they’re free to bring themselves and all their ideas and experiences with them.

Colleague feedback

We are hugely proud of the working culture at VWFS. So many great programmes and initiatives have started from an idea put forward by colleagues. We’ve also invested in training for our line managers to maintain this open dialogue that’s crucial to our culture. Our colleagues' voices are important, and there are a range of ways to share ideas, feedback and thoughts throughout the year.

Matt Solven shares his career journey from Undergraduate to Board of Management

"I'm very proud to have been promoted to the Board of the company that I joined as an Undergraduate more than 15 years ago. I'm now really invested in developing similar pathways for the next generation. I'm not quite sure where that time has gone, but I know that it's been a brilliant journey and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed. Our business is brimming with so many talented people, and I feel a certain duty to ensure we continue to develop innovative, forward-thinking colleagues that can take us forward in the years to come."

Benefits for our people

We are proud to be able to provide a really competitive benefits and wellbeing offering for our colleagues in order to attract and retain great people. Whether your focus is on rewards and benefits such as salary, pension and annual leave, or whether you value support for your health and wellbeing, mobility or for your family life, there’s something for everyone.

Health and wellbeing

Your health and wellbeing are a priority for us. We want colleagues to be happy and healthy, and able to enjoy work and leisure time. We believe prevention is always better than cure, so we offer a comprehensive programme that proactively supports your present and future health. We often welcome Therapy Dogs into our offices during well-being week as it’s known to relieve stress and boost morale in the workplace.

Charity events and our community

A great workplace is a great community, and a great community looks outwards too. For many years we have taken part in and contributed to many charitable activities for the local community and beyond. We have created a hub where colleagues can come together to develop new skills to support the community and other charities that are close to the hearts of our colleagues.

Stephen Shields shares his career journey from Customer Operations temp to permanent developer in IT

"I started my VWFS career in Customer Operations in 2021 and really enjoyed my various roles here. But I knew I always wanted to work in IT. During our Steer You Career event in 2022, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and had a meeting with various managers from our IT team. I soon realised that I wanted to become a developer, so I completed some studies (including Linkedin learning courses) and projects in my own time. I was then made aware of a fixed term contract position in the BI team in IT, which I successfully applied for and started in January 2023. I worked extremely hard to learn as much as I could, which has paid off as I managed to secure a permanent position here as a BI developer. It's the best job I've ever had!"
