We’re looking for a Lead Data Platform Engineer to lead, support and advance our current, transitional and future Enterprise Data & BI technology and data platform initiatives - Interested? Excited? read on
In this newly created, critical role you will be establishing the data platform strategy, roadmap, standards, policies and best practises - addressing both current and future complex data platform engineering, technical and security requirements. What you’ll be doing:
- You'll provide strategic, platform and technical leadership in our Enterprise Data & BI function within established data architecture blueprints and strategy, both locally and with our HQ in Germany
- Support developing our enterprise data target operating model by leading data platform capability in conjunction with the wider data team including design and deployment of data platform technologies and, policies, best practise, compliance and governance
- Lead the management and continuous upgrades of all platforms in conjunction with HQ, 3rd party suppliers, wider data team, IT security and infrastructure to ensure compliance of our platforms
- Responsibility for all data platform documentation using methodologies such as Jira and Confluence to provide reporting
- You'll lead enterprise data platform outcomes through our PI/Agile planning and delivery, making informed decisions on complex issues to support solution and data product development
- Communicating your shared technical goals and direction for the team, train and guide them for effective implementation across all data products, domains and other data capabilities
- Lead the Data Platform Engineering Community of Practise (COP) updating on industry trends and developments
What you’ll bring:
You’ll be an experienced Data & BI professional who has proven leadership of platform teams, platform management, data transformation & structures, metadata, dependency and workload management
You’ll have a great understanding of industry standard enterprise data platforms and technologies and a passion for sharing this knowledge to achieve fantastic customer outcomes
Essential experience & skills
- Expert knowledge of data platforms such as Informatica (IPC/IDMC), SAP Data Services, Collibra, Tableau, SAP Business Objects and Oracle Datawarehouse
- You'll have advanced data knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (Oracle SQL & PL/SQL) and a variety of other databases
- You fully understand enterprise data management capabilities - data platforms, data engineering, BI, data governance, data architecture and data operations
- Experience in maintenance and upgrades of enterprise data and BI platforms and, you can build and optimise big data pipelines, architectures and data sets
- You have strong ETL design and development experience and knowledge of data pipeline (DS scheduler, Automic, Airflow) and product workflow management tools
- We don't just need your technical expertise, you'll be working with a broad spectrum of people so need to be good at managing stakeholders and 3rd party suppliers potentially UK and Germany
- There's a lot of communication involved so you need to great at this and adapting to your audience
- You have worked within Agile teams, values streams and COP, working across functions in a dynamic environment and achieving results through people
- Experienced in performing root cause analysis on data and BI platforms and processes in response to business requirements and to identify opportunities for improvement
