At Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) Mobility, we are the enabler of VWFS (UK) LTD future mobility strategy. We cover vehicle usership in place of, vehicle ownership which includes car and van rental, subscription, long term fleet rental and, try before you buy - plus all new and emerging Mobility services.
With such a wide ranging and exciting proposition, our customers come from both retail and fleet channels with both passenger cars and commercial vehicles in scope – varied, exciting and pacey!
We are now looking for a new Head of Rental for a fixed term contract ending 31st December 2027.
There's plenty of scope for creative flair and entrepreneurship in this exciting, pivotal role.
You’ll create and implement our UK mobility strategy and be an inspiring guide for our mobility function. You'll be involved in new product development and launches, building and developing these to be scalable and profitable business streams for VWFS.
You’ll role model and champion our Company’s ’Guiding Principles’ helping to shape our culture with ethical leadership, direction and regulatory compliance.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for the following experience and importantly, someone with the energy, drive, and passion to “show us how it’s done”
• You’ll need vehicle rental, commercial vehicle rental, fleet and remarketing industry experience and/or sales management experience at a senior level, within the asset finance, vehicle rental and/or Automotive industry
• Extensive experience of business engagement with dealers and brands
• Experience with product development and continuous improvement
• Track record of delivering innovation and strategic projects within budgets and timelines
• Experience in working with CRM, Fleet Management, and/or Rental proprietary booking platforms
• You have experience of operational and team design, change management and successfully guiding multi-functional teams - achieving outstanding results through your people
•Coaching, mentoring, developing, and managing talent within your teams so they perform at their best
• Highly developed commercial acumen, and with a high level of drive, motivation, and emotional intelligence.
• Excellent interpersonal, influencing, negotiation and communication skills
• You’re a creative thinker that makes positive changes and can help move us forward
• P&L development experience is required and, if you do have experience of national multi-site location businesses through a franchise network – this may may be an advantage for you!
What will you be doing?
• You’ll design and implement the UK mobility strategy
• Guide the team to implement product and service design and launch products monitoring and enhancing them further to meet evolving consumer needs
• Define the objectives and KPIs for success, managing high performance culture within the function
• You’ll set realistic plans for growth, communicate these and, enable and support teams to deliver
• Be the point person with Brand relations, ensuring buy-in to VWFS Mobility concepts and products to make them successful for all parties
• Negotiate with Brands to secure the required volumes of cars and vans at the market viable terms to meet the relevant consumer and corporate demand in a tough market
• Own the Dealer network relationship team to manage performance in the Rent a Car locations
• Collaborate with our Controlling function to develop market pricing structures, systems, and policies
• Steer the team on new product research, innovative technologies and methodologies and obtain buy in to launch, operationalise and resource key initiatives – including the creation and presentation of business cases and complex stakeholder management
• Lead the teams to high performance across sales, lead generation and digital sales, maximising supply, and demand efficiency of the fleet
• Collaborate with Controlling on the reporting, analysis and identification of actions associated with KPI’s (sales, margin, tactical spend) across Fleet, Commercial and Planning
N.B. The Head of Rental is a ‘Certified’ role under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR) and the role holder is required to comply with the FCA’s Conduct Rules. A mandatory requirement of the SMCR is for VWFS to certify that the role holder is fit and proper to perform the duties on an ongoing basis.
